ASPRONADI is a not-for-profit organization with the objective to disseminate and promote; knowledge, art and practice of marine design.



AS.PRO.NA.DI. (Designers Association of Pleasure Craft) was founded over thirty nine years ago to promote the practice of the marine design profession in Italy, promoting the exchange of information between colleagues, encouraging education, research and innovation in the field of marine design. Established October 23, 1973 in Genoa, ASPRONADI in 1983 obtained recognition of the Merchant Marine Ministry in consultation with the Ministry of Transport. Recently the association has been referred to in Ministry dispatches, which highlighted the importance of the association to the field of marine design in Italy. Since 1984 ASPRONADI have been part of the Technical Committee Group of Experts for the recreational boating within the Italian Naval Register. The Association has been serving the Italian marine design  industry for over 39 years. Among the ASPRONADI membership there are a range of marine industry professionals: engineers, designers, consultants, architects and many of them hold senior positions within the industry. There are also Professors of both Industrial Design and Naval Architecture from the major Italian Universities. Among the membership we also have student members. The key sctivities of the association are:

- Promoting the recreational marine, art, science and practice of marine design

- Promotion or participation in conferences

- Facilitating the exchange of information and ideas between members

- Facilitating understanding between the partners, related to their profession

- Cooperation with universities and other institutions of study courses in marine design

- Holding a design contest

- Issue of space magazines, articles about events and projects of members

With regard to teaching, ASPRONADI established the first Italian course on "Design for naval correspondence" dealing with the preparation of textbooks, and learning exercises for students. In 2010 Diporthesis was launched, this is an international design competition for final year undergraduate and  master's students studying in the field of marine design, 33 competitors from 8 countries participated. Organising the competition for the last two years is a measure of the commitment that ASPRONADI has to the dissemination of new innovative designs  within the industry to support the development of the next generation of designers.
